This is a glossary of terms used within the essays and lectures published about the House Silverflame. For more information about the terms please refer to the document from which it originates. In all cases in which a Telorian term is used and a direct translation is provided the Telorian term will be in red and the translation in blue. Each term also has a number entry stating where references to it are located in the House lectures/essays. Those those terms whose numbers are in parentheses are not mentioned directly in the essay itself, but are implied. Those entries who show only a star in this field are not currently mentioned in any other location but will eventually be expanded upon in further lectures/essays.
Please note that in all cases in which the term Member is used in this
glossary and in the lectures/essays and it is referring to a House power,
function or ability related to the Eldirav it is assumed that the House
member is at least of the A'eles rank or above.

Lectures/Essays |
| A'eles | To Sleep | The Second Tier of the House. Entrance to this level is by birth or a magical adoption in which the House Genetics are transfered to the Member. They must follow the first and second Env'at. | 1 |
| A'ventu | To be Awake | The Third Tier of the House. Entrance to this level is generally through the rank of A'eles and then performing a E'lavshtu. They must follow the first through third Env'at. | 1,2 |
| Cha'nen | The effect which occurs when a Member pushes at the limits of their ability to channel Silverflame. To draw a comparison, it is like working with weights. Normal when one lifts an object of a weight to which they are used to, they do not feel any effect, however if they attempt to lift more then they are used to they may get sore muscles, if they attempt to lift significantly more then they may tear a muscle, and if the strain of the load is far to much, they may permanently injure or kill themselves. | 5 | |
| Cre'saval | This is the state in which a Member exists in multiple bodies simultaneously and Mystra processes their personality so that they may be aware and functioning in each of them. May be attained only by those of A'ventu rank and above. | 2 | |
| Degrin Trasolin | Chaos flows through
Order |
The is a traditional House parting, Chaos flows through Order, this is both a blessing and a warning. As we know the House is quite close to the principles of Chaos and Order and the reminder of the fact that they are balanced and both are needed to for true excellence. | * |
| dorgin'val | This is a condition which can affect members of the A'eles Tier, it is a slumber which can last days, months, years, tens or even hundreds of years. Some upon awaking from this slumber find that they are stronger faster and more powerful then they were when they went to sleep. The body needs no nurishment during this sleep, rather living on the Silverflame itself. However those in this state remain vulnerable to magical attacks and other mundane danger such as swords and roofs which cave in. Often those feeling the sysmptoms of this coming upon themselves will find a very safe place to fall into dorgin'val. | 7 | |
| E'lavshtu | Opening of the Eye | This is a ceremony that comes in many forms throughout the many branches of the House. The purpose is to cause the Member to "awaken" to their genetic potential. No A'eles may enter the rank of A'ventu without some form of this ritual. | 1 |
| Eldirav | The Genetic Stamp of the House. This grants direct access to the powers of the SIlverflame. It is an eight dimensional hyper-helix. | 4 | |
| Env'at | Concepts | These concepts embody each stage of development along the path of the Silverflame. Excellence in following them is a sign that the Member is advancing. If the Env'at are ignored it is possible for a member to regress in Tiers. | 1 |
| Erana | This is the term used for someone who has undergone the vote, and been accepted into the House, but has not yet been initiated. | * | |
| Erani'ata | To Know | The First Tier of the House. Entrance to this level is in many forms. When one being enters the House they, their mate(s) and all their children have the right to enter. A Member may also bring in any they adopt. Those of the rank of A'ventu and above may also bring beings into the House through Sponsorship. This is the most volatile of the Tiers with more Members entering and leaving the House then any other level. Those of this stage should follow the first Env'at. | 1 |
| Extrinsic Genetic
State |
This is one of the two fundamental states of the Eldirav. It contains all the powers and metastates which rely on the connection to Mystra in order to function. | 4
| fir'cona | The fir'cona are "wild talents" they are abilities possed by many of A'eles rank House Members. They are access to very specific, often poorly controled sections of the Silverflame. They are often unpredictable and have side effects. For example one may be the ability to true shapechange into sparrow, but only when frightened, and in order to change back they need to be touched by moonlight. Or another may be able to breath underwater, but the longer they do so the harder it is to breath air again. | (1) | |
| Ga'shalon | to return something to
the place or state to which it belongs. |
This is the ritual by which a House Member is reestablished in the bond with Mystra. This ritual may only be performed by those of the A'ventu rank and above. | (4) |
| Intrinsic Genetic
State |
This is one of the two fundamental states of the Eldirav. It contains all the powers and metastates which are inherent in the House genetics themselves and do not rely on the connection to Mystra in order to function. | 4
| Is'han | This is one of the effects of the Eldirav upon the surrounding reality. It generally causes reality to be more fluid. | 4 | |
| Is'hanya | The title of those who have mastered the forces of Is'han to the degree necessary to tap into the fundament Chaos and Order of reality. | 4 | |
| Isnon | This is the title for the state in which a Member gains conscience control of the fluidity of their genetics. This state is rarely attained before a Member reaches the A'ventu state. | 4 | |
| Jenmay | This is the cerimony that is performed to bring someone into the First Tier of the House. | * | |
| Kerin'su | The basic difficulty of an effect when factoring together the amount of Silverflame being used, magnitude of effect, experience of the wielder and capacity for channeling of Silverflame. | 5 | |
| Lashen'tuset | To Live and Grow | The second of the Env'at This term means that a Member should seek to expand themselves. To honor life in what they feel is a fitting fashion. To push their limits. This does not mean they lose their responsibility to the first Env'at but that they add this additional focus. | 4 |
| Meldeairin | To Change | This is the third of the Env'at. This Means a Member changes his focus from expanding themselves to changing the things around them. This does not mean they give up the first and second Env'at, but that they add this additional focus. | 1 |
| Mystra | Mystra is an advanced multitasking Artificial Intelligence programed by Teloric. She is the distribution apparatus of the Silverflame. She is a living being and possesses a personality. She has She has her own moral system which does not always agree with the norm, nor with Teloric. | 2,3 | |
| na'ferot | na'ferot - a token of acceptance. This is an item that has been charged with an ability of the Silverflame, it also contains the identity of the owner and of the one who gave the item, and marks them as a Silverflame. This allows them to use the House gates without assistance, enter areas which allow only Silverflames, it stands for the Eldirav which is not normally possessed at this rank. These items run the range from swords, to amulets, to rods, to other stranger types, there have even been some that were sewing needles. Typical abilities of these items are: to grant light, to extend the range of one of the senses, to allow one to pass unnoticed ((but not invisibly)), to allow one to fall without being hurt, to light small fires, to allow one to never get lost even underground, etc... | * | |
| na'ferst | This is an item to which a link to Mystra has been established. Those who act as "priests" or "priestesses" (i use these term for the sake of simplicity) of Mystra who have not received the Eldirav must have these items on them to call upon her. These are similar to the "Holy Symbols" carried by priests and priestesses of the gods, but are of greater necessity, without this item the non Silverflame priest/priestess will not be able to call on any effect. These items each have a limit to the degree to which they are able to Channel Mystra, with some having greater capacity and others lesser. These items may be created by House members of A'eles rank and above (if they have studied the art of doing so), or by a non Silverflame priest of great enough rank. | * | |
| On'sena | See The Pool. | (3) | |
| perin'zat | The tendency for Silverflame to cause effects other then that which which was intended by the wielder. This is measured in degrees of magnitude with a degree of one being the smallest unit and going up from there. The the degree of perin'zat which occurs depends on the Kerin'su of the effect and the local conditions at the time. | 5 | |
| sela'nal | This is a generic term for anyone who does not posses the Eldirav, this includes the Erani'ata. The term is not meant to be insulting, rather it is used as to differentiate those with and those without the Eldirav. Although in some prideful arrogant branches of the House it has been used as a deadly insult. | 7 | |
| Se'vala | These are members of the House of A'eles rank who have fir'cona. They have access to very specific, often poorly controled sections of the Silverflame. Most A'eles posses a fir'cona of some kind. One person in 10 generations will posses a fir'cona of truely spectacular effect, surpassing even the A'ventu and perhaps the Tu'ferin in that area. | (1) | |
| Silverflame | Generic term for the powers, effects and states belonging to House Silverflame. So called because effects using this power are often accompanied by a visible silvery energy. | 2,3 | |
| Sip'etu | To Do and Say | The first and founding Env'at. It means that the Member has a responsibility to guard the honor of the House and to defend that honor. To watch and guard the other Members of the House. To forward the causes and awareness of the House for it's greater honor. | 1 |
| Tel'anant | See Teloric's Soul | (3) | |
| Teloric's Soul | This is the deepest essence of the Silverflame. Also reffered to as Tel'anant | 3 | |
| Tira'nall | A group of four A'ventu who act in the name of Teloric when he may not act for any reason. They represent the Heart, Mind, Soul and Silverflame. No one Member of the Tira'nall represents any one of these forces, but all of them together do. They are specifically chosen and empowered to act as his Voice and Hand. | * | |
| The Oversoul | See Mystra. | 3 | |
| The Pool | This is the central pool of the Silverflame, it contains all of Teloric's powers, knowledge, abilities etc. Also refered to as On'sena | 3 | |
| Tu'ferin | This is the rank above A'ventu, none within Rhydin except Teloric posses this rank and so nothing is known of it. | (1) | |
| Yin'mer | To be Alone | This is the title of the ritual used to sever the connection to Mystra. This ritual may only be performed by Members of the A'ventu level and above. It is used as a punishment for abuse of powers and bringing of great dishonor to the House. This ritual is used very rarely. | (4) |
| Yin'meri | This is the title of one who has been cut off from Mystra either through the ritual of Yin'mer, by deliberately severing the connection themselves, or by some other catastrophic effect. | (4) | |
| ze'don | A generic term for the magical arts which are practiced widely by Members and non-members alike, in general these are Science, Sorcery, Psionics and Wizardry, almost every magical art can be traced to one or more of these four forms. The Silverflame is an extrodinarily complex form of all of them together. | * | |
