This is the second of three Essay/Lectures that describe the place of the first three Tiers within the House. This lecture will cover the A'eles. (please remember to refer to the Glossery for meanings of terms not explained within the body of this essay)
 

    Who are the A'eles? The A'eles are members of the House who are either born into the House or are adopted into the House through a ritual that grants them the Eldirav of the House. They are by far the most common of Tier of those who posses the Eldiav and most who reach this state never exceed it to the tier beyond. The A'eles are those who are born into the House or have received some of the gifts of the House by some means. They may have latent abilities and are almost always immortal in that they do not age beyond their prime, but they do not have the ability to directly call on the Silverflame or gain access to the Higher House powers. Some of them have wild talents and are Stronger and faster then mortals. They are called on to fulfill both the First and Second Env'at of the House. They also have all rights granted to the Erani'ata. They hold an odd position within the House. They have the genetics to contol the Silverflame, but these genetics slumber within them. They benifit from some of the effects of the intrinsic state, but lack the means to directs them. We will cover all this and more in the following order: rights, duties, entrance, powers and limitaions.

The rights of the A'eles are as follows:
1. They may use the House Gates for transport and if trained in the arts necessary may guide others through these gates as well. Those who receive further training will be able to craft new Gates.
2. They may enter the House library and perform research there.
3. They may enter areas sacred to Mystra and guide others through such areas.
4. They may enter areas which allow none but members of the House to enter.
5. they may act as a sponsor for bringing others into the House.
6. They may act as priests and priestesses of Mystra

The duties of the A'eles are as follows:
1. They must follow the first and second Env'at.
2. They should watch at all times for those who are worthy for entrance to the House.
3. They are to obey those in authority over them in the structure of the House.

To enter into this Tier the following needs to occur:
1. Those who are the children of an A'eles and a sela'nal, and A'eles and another A'eles, an A'eles and a A'ventu or those born of an A'ventu and a sela'nal are born into this tier.
2. Those who pass through the rank of Erani'ata and after having proven they are ready may be elevated to this tier by a cerimony.

The powers of this Tier include the following:
1. They may possess a fir'cona.
2. They are usally stronger and faster then others of their apparent race.
3. They are usally gifted in learning the forms of ze'don.
4. They may not age past their prime and have resitances to many natrual and  magical diseases.
5. Effects of the Is'han forces may surface from time to time, but they are rarely controlled.
6. They may act as priests and priestesses for Mystra without the need for a na'ferst although a na'ferst may provide better Channeling ability, especially at first.
((not every member of this Tier will by default have every one of these, this is just the common pool with some haveing more or less of them))

The Limitaions of this Tier are:
1. They are sensivtive to the Silverflame and large uncontrolled use of it in their area can weaken them, make them sick, or possibly kill them through overdose to their system.
2. Some of them may for time to time enter a slumber which lasts days, months, years, tens of years, or even hundreds of years. The older they are, the greater the chance of such a dorgin'val.
